In my relative’s case it is a $2500 dollar flat fee.
Are there truly any advatages over a less expensive general practice lawyer or over a PUBLIC defender?

I work in a Criminal Law firm and we specialize in DUI and Criminal Traffic Citations, the price you will pay for a good attorney really depends on the circumstances of your case, like little questions. Did you Blow or give a Blood test? Did you refuse to do Field Sobriety Tests? If you Refused that your chances of getting off with an Attorney are far greater however you can still get Wreckless driving. With a Public Defender you might not get the satisfaction that they did the best they could to help you. Best of Luck and Next time call a cab.
I see alot of
12 Months Supervised Probation
Community Service
AA Meetings
DUI Classes
Suspended Lisences., etc. etc.
** If possible get whatever Attorney you do end up with to shoot for Withold of Adjudication.
My husband has had 3 DUI’s!!!! Not fun! All 3 times he had court appointed attorney’s and he only spent a total of 10 days in jail. Right now he is on house arrest for the 3rd but his court appointed attorney was able to drop it from a DUI to a wreckless operation, being that he wasn’t even in his car when he got the DUI and he blew a .091, like 1 drink too many, but with the DUI laws they have now it’s almost impossible to go out to RedLobster and have a glass of wine or something.
$2500 sounds like a lot, for one of his DUI’s we were looking at attorneys and they only wanted around $800-900 but then again, we live in a small town.
.18 !!!! that is a lot, she’ll be lucky if she doesn’t get jail time because the legal limit is only .08!
For my husbands 3rd (wreckless operation) charge he was sentenced 6 months of jail, he chose house arrest so he can still work, 6 months probation, license suspened for a year, thousands of dollars in fines, 52 AA meetings, he had to go to a driving class, watch a Dr. Phil episode…lol…But I may add that the judge here doesn’t like my husband at all!!! She even yelled at him when she married us! She’s been arrested before for DUI’s and rumor is, she’s a coke head!
Probably not on first or second offenses. It is usually the same plea bargains regardless of legal skills.
In most cases you cant get a public defender unless you can prove that you cant afford your own attorney. If you can afford one, one will not be appointed to you.
Yes, I think it would be worth it. Maybe the can get it reduced to a lower charge. I know someone whose charges were dropped down to, ready for this, not wearing his seat belt two time (during this one incident)!!!!!!!!!!
It does depend on the details of the case. If this is her second offense, she’ll probably have to bite the bullet and take her punishment. No judge is going to let any attorney get her off scot-free, it’s just not feasible.
I’ve seen public defenders do wonderfully, and I’ve seen them do poorly. Again, your relative is guilty; she needs to realize she is in danger and she is A danger to the general public. I hope she gets counseling and never drives after drinking again.
if it’s only $2500 it’s probably just gonna be a plea deal.
If you expect to have a chance of getting off, it will cost at least 8-10 thousand for a good lawyer.
so If they just go in and plea it down to reckless driving or something you’d still lose because reckless driving is bad to have on your Driving record……not as bad as DUI but don’t look for any driving jobs…..ever…..

It is cool that we can receive the mortgage loans moreover, it opens completely new chances.
